Description
Metacognition skills are essential for individuals to take control of their learning and thinking, enabling them to achieve both professional and personal goals. When powered by learning analytics, individuals can enhance their metacognitive abilities based on reliable evidence and insights gleaned from data collected about their learning and thinking processes as they interact with the learning management systems to complete learning tasks and activities. In this talk, we will present a research study designed to improve students’ academic performance with the use of learning support exercises for the four phases of metacognition: planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reflection. The learning support exercises are labeled as study plan set up, study plan follow up, study plan tune up, and study plan wrap up to represent each of the four phases of metacognition respectively. All exercises involve helping learners align their learning goals with a solid study plan. Results from implementing the research study in an undergraduate Business Analytics online class are discussed.| Period | Oct 27 2025 |
