Every ten years, accredited institutional members of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) must seek reaccreditation of their Music programs and curricula. Though preparing for a NASM visit can be daunting, the Music Librarian has an important role to play during this months-long process. In this presentation, I will discuss my experiences in hosting NASM representatives during their visit to my institution’s library to view local music holdings. I will also cover how to collaborate with music faculty to ensure a successful site visit and respond to the questions and concerns of the NASM representatives. Finally, I will provide some suggestions for ways in which the preparations and results of a NASM visit can enhance academic library outreach to university Music programs.
