Description
Porous materials are used in many applications, such as separation, energy storage devices, and biomedical applications. Key parameters to the performance of these materials are their porosity and density. An accurate measurement of these parameters can be crucial for understanding material performance. A gas pycnometer is a device that could be used to determine the density and porosity of solid and semi-solid materials. In the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, we recently lost a legacy pycnometer from Eric Grulke. Obtaining a new pycnometer would continue to allow numerous groups to obtain critical data necessary for publications and expand the method's power within the University of Kentucky.
