    This proposal seeks funding for the acquisition of an advanced auto-sampler for our Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (PY-GC/MS) system. PY-GC/MS is a powerful analytical technique widely applied in energy research. It helps in analyzing the complex vola􀆟le products released from the thermal treatment of various feedstock such as plant biomass, polymers, plastic waste, and coal, contributing to the understanding of its composition and decomposition pathways during the treatment. Additionally, PY-GC/MS plays a role in environmental monitoring, essential for assessing the impact of energy production and use on the environment. Currently, our PY-GC-MS system requires manual sample loading, which limits throughput and introduces potential for human error, affecting both efficiency and reliability of results. The integra􀆟on of an auto-sampler is crucial for expanding our PY-GC/MS system's capabilities in the rapid and precise analysis of samples. This enhancement is particularly vital for several ongoing and planned projects focusing on renewable energy sources, biofuels, lithium-ion battery recycling, and environmental pollutants. It will also contribute to future research related to the thermochemical conversion of diverse materials within the University. Incorporating an auto-sampler will significantly improve research productivity and data quality. This not only aligns with e-RPA's mission to advance cu􀆫ng-edge energy research at the University but also positions us competitively for future grants.
