    Personal profile

    Research Interests

An anthropologist by training, I conduct research on cultural values for post-compulsory education and ways that college students negotiate academic capital. As a Chellgren Professor with the Chellgren Center for Undergraduate Excellence, I am working on a project investigating undergraduate academic literacy, particularly with regards to liberal education and creativity. My experiences teaching in travel courses in Europe has led to a curricular research project focused on decolonizing education abroad.

    Courses Taught

I teach qualitative inquiry, sociology of higher education, college student development, seminars on high impact curricular practices, and comparative higher education.
