Personal profile

Research Interests

My research explores how individuals and organizations in the sport industry function as agents of social change. I am particularly interested in how athletes, teams, leagues, and other sport industry stakeholders leverage their influence, networks, and expertise to drive meaningful social impact and address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Biography

I am the George and Betty Blanda Endowed Professor in Sport Leadership and Director of the Future of Sport Institute (FoSI) at the University of Kentucky. My papers appear in journals such as Journal of Sport Management, Organization, Journal of Management Inquiry, European Sport Management Quarterly, Sport Management Review, and Journal of African American Studies, among others. Moreover, I am currently writing a book (under contract with Cornell University/ILR Press) that presents leaders in the sport industry with a roadmap to prioritize social goals alongside their on-field performance targets and commercial objectives. Since 2020, I have served as the Editor-in-Chief for Sport, Business and Management: An International Journal.
