Personal profile

Research Interests

I am motivated to solve technologically-relevant problems by addressing fundamental materials design and processing questions using integrated multi-scale computational techniques and materials characterization. Of particular interest to me are problems centered on complex or random structures (including porous or polycrystalline materials), or atomic-scale mechanisms requiring accurate treatment of chemical bonds or electronic structure. Examples of such problems include the design and development of materials (especially those with nanometer-scale features) for catalytic, thermionic, and photo-responsive applications, or for use in extreme environments.
