Research Interests
Our research focuses on the molecular and pathophysiological characterization of novel proteins that regulate adipose tissue function and inter-organ communication in obesity, diabetes, and associated cancers. Our work has uncovered key insights into adipocyte physiology, adipocyte-tumor interactions, and the development of liver steatosis and fibrosis. Currently, we are investigating the molecular mechanisms driving ceramide overload - a hallmark of metabolic disorders and cancer - with a particular focus on the PAQR-ceramide signaling pathway and its downstream effectors in obesity and related diseases. Our long-term goal is to define therapeutic targets within these pathways to mitigate metabolic dysfunction and cancer progression.
