2025 Kentucky PSEP Enhancement Grant
Abstract
There are currently 10,684 private pesticide applicators (farmers) that are trained and certi?ed
every 3 years through their local county extension oUice. Pesticide applicators must be certi?ed in
order to purchase and use restricted use pesticides. For many people, this is the only time they
come to their UK extension oUice. The EPA approved training for pesticide applicators is a minimum
of 3 hours every three years. The enhancement grant will develop a set of training acOvities to
comply with the new ‘mitigation measures’ requirement of some herbicide labels that can be used
by county extension agents to improve engagement with applicators during these trainings. We
expect to develop an instructional video and PowerPoint to help farmers understand and navigate
these new requirements.
