Description
This research project will test a problem solving intervention for hospice caregivers. The study design is that of a randomized clinical trial where informal caregivers (family members, spouses, friends or others) of hospice patients are randomly assigned to a control group or an intervention group receiving problem solving therapy sessions face to face or an intervention group receiving that same intervention via video.
In this project, Dr. Wittenberg-Lyles will be involved as a Co-Investigator for the total duration of the project and she will assist in:
1) The study design - especially related to the qualitative methodology and analysis of communication between hospice caregivers and interventionists.
2) Data analysis - especially related to qualitative coding, and theme development.
3) Interpretation of findings, especially as related to communication between hospice caregivers and interventionists.
4) Cost analysis-exploring caregiver burden and resources needed for their caregiving tasks as well as the impact of the intervention on cost
5) Dissemination of all findings including preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations.
