Description

This proposal has been prepared in response to a request from the Friends of McConnell Springs for investigation of the Trotter Gunpowder Mill site at McConnell Springs Park. The purpose of this study is to further investigate the Trotter Gunpowder Mill at McConnell Springs in order to better understand this early, important industrial site in central Kentucky. This evaluation will be accomplished through additional documentary research on powder mill operations and the Trotter Mill in particular, and excavation of portions of the mill complex site. The project will also provide opportunities for engaging and enhancing the educational programs at McConnell Springs for both school children and adults.
