Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This proposal has been prepared in response to a request from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources for a Phase I Archaeological Survey of selected portions of the Western Kentucky Wildlife Management Area in McCracken County, Kentucky. Ten individual projects were originally part of the potential survey area. After review of the proposed ten project areas by staff of the Kentucky Heritage Council, four were determined to warrant Phase I archaeological survey. These projects are described briefly below, and the original reference numbers for these items have been retained to provide correspondence. The proposed Phase I archaeological survey is intended to provide specific information concerning the nature and distribution of potential archaeological resources within these four project areas. The archaeological investigation will include a review of the existing archaeological sites and an evaluation of the extant documentary and cartographic sources pertaining to the project area. This information will serve as the basis for the design and completion of a Phase I archaeological survey, using a combination of surface and subsurface investigative techniques.
