Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The University of Kentucky (UK) College of Social Work (COSW), in collaboration with
the UK Graduate Center for Gerontology and the Kentucky Aging Research and
Information Service, propose to offer a one-day training during the fall of2004. The
training will include an introduction, morning session, and afternoon session. A total of
6.5 CEUs will be provided for social workers at the training, given the approval of the
Kentucky Board of Social Work. Registration will be limited to the first 50 social
workers and will cost $15.00 per participant for the training (normally $100 for all day).
Lunch will be provided to the participants from the fee collected. The provision oflunch
will allow for internal networking among those interested in the topic. The training will
be held at a community location.
The training will be advertised on the COSW's Continuing Education Program website:
hUp/lwwwukv.edu/SociaIWork/conted/pro!!ramhtm. As part of the fall schedule, the
training announcement will be sent by mail and email to community agencies and
organizations.
The COSW has previously offered a 3-hour session on an aging topic. It was well
attended and participants expressed interest in further offerings in this area. This full-day
training will become a part of our slate of continuing education offerings for the year,
providing an avenue to continue after the grant period and expanding our existing efforts.
Participants will be asked to complete a workshop evaluation. This will include an
evaluation ofthe current training and request areas of interest to be utilized as topics for
future trainings.
Martie Gillen with the COSW will serve as the Project Coordinator. The College as
match for support of this project will donate a portion of her time.
