Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) throught its Fatatlity Assessment and Control Evaluation Program conducts investigations into fatal workplace accidents. The reports from these investigations are maintained on the FACE website. In addition, the reports from investigations conducted by state agencies are added to the NIOSH reports. Since the FACE program began in 1982, there have been 681 reports on fatal construction workplace accidents added to the site. Each of the reports will be analyzed to identify any relationship between the causes of the accidents (as determined by the NIOSH and state investigators) and the elements of the construction project's safety culture. The findings from this investigation will be used in the preparation of a proposal to be submitted to NIOSH in response to the goals established for research into safety culture within the National Construction Agenda of the National Occupational Research Agency.
