Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The University of Kentucky (UK) Research Foundation project team, in collaboration with USDA-APHIS-AC and its ESF 11 partners, will collaborate with NASAAEP, the National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition (NARSC), and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and other key stakeholders to update, consolidate, and/or create animal emergency management BPWG documents (up to a total of 12 BPWG documents) and conduct a BPWG workshop in conjunction with the National Alliance of State Animal and Agriculture Emergency Programs (NASAAEP) 2022 Summit. Animal resource typing and resource management information cataloged during BPWG document development will serve as the foundation for a future Multi-jurisdictional Animal Resource Coordination Exercise (MARCE). MARCE assesses resource coordination capabilities during a major natural disaster affecting animals, including nationwide coordination of state Emergency Operations Centers’ (EOCs) ability to offer assistance and request out-of-state, federal, and non-governmental organization (NGO) resources in response to a disaster affecting animals.
