Arts Disaster and Crisis Preparedness in Kentucky

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

After two years of planning, the Kentucky Heritage Emergency Response Network (KHERN) is set to officially launch as part of a signi?cant statewide initiative to enhance disaster preparedness within the arts and culture sectors. The launch coincides with the inaugural Arts Disaster & Crisis Preparedness Conference, a one-day event held on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington on Friday, September 6 and a subsequent regional training workshop in Boone County, KY the following day on Saturday, September 7. These trainings, offered in partnership with the University of Kentucky’s Cooperative Extension Service, aim to introduce the network to the public, publicizing its mission to assist the arts and culture sector during crises. This microgrant project respectfully requests support for the featured speaker, Tom Clareson, a Senior Consultant for Digital & Preservation Services at LYRASIS, to provide two disaster preparedness training sessions as part of the Sept. 6 conference and Sept. 7 workshop. It also covers disaster preparedness materials to be distributed as part of the official launch to promote the Kentucky Heritage Emergency Response Network (KHERN) at the events.
