Description
OBJECTIVES: This research will consider the changes recently made in the asphalt mix design
process to evaluate the effectiveness of the changes. It is anticipated that these changes would
produce a more durable pavement. Research objectives include:
I. Summary of Kentucky's new mix design specification.
2. Comparison of Kentucky's specification to that of other states.
3. Evaluation of specification changes to determine if the new mix design method is
producing more durable pavements.
4. Reconunendation for future use of the new specification, whether that be to keep the
specification as it is, to revert to the old specification, or to make additional modifications
to the current specification.
