Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The population of focus for this project is postpartum and parenting women with OUD who have lost access to a medication prescriber due to the delivery of a child. Recently, there has been an increase in obstetric providers willing to prescribe MAT during pregnancy. However, women not linked into ongoing care after delivery often discontinue this important part of their recovery. Approximately half of the infants admitted to the NICU or the Neonatal Abstinence Care Unit (NACU) at UK Children’s Hospital in 2018-2019 were born outside of UK. This project will coordinate treatment for SUD for those who do not have an established provider. The purpose of the project is to expand and enhance access to MAT for OUD and important wraparound services for women in need of postpartum outpatient addiction treatment via an expansion of BB and a partnership with the UKHC NICU/NACU.
