Grants and Contracts Details
Description
Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) is a great threat to hemlock forests in the eastern United States. The infestation in
Kentucky is relatively new (discovered in 2006) and although extensive surveys have shown
there to be approximately 40 infested sites, there are many uninfested sites in eastern Kentucky. Funding will allow us to prevent the situation from becoming worse by implementing a solid biological control program which is, by far, the best
long-term option we have for controlling this pest.
