Biomass Feedstock for Sustainable Aviation Fuel Project

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The proposed work aims to perform a risk assessment for representative oleaginous biomass feedstocks used to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) through the hydroprocessing of esters and fatty acids (HEFA) pathway in key Kentucky counties in accordance with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) Framework for Biomass Supply Chain Risk (BSCR) Standard. In doing so, this work will also provide a framework and a template to easily update the assessment and/or to apply the latter to other biomass feedstocks, processes, and products following the BSCR standard. The outcomes of data gathering efforts, risk assessment findings, performance metrics, and the overall project insights will be communicated to the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet (KY EEC).
