Bluegrass Harvest: Expanding CSA Markets

This project seeks to grow community supported agriculture (CSA) production and marketing opportunities by implementing a financially sustainable CSA voucher program. Building off the success of a 2015 voucher pilot (supported by FMPP), Community Ventures, a statewide nonprofit, is working with the original research team to develop an employer-funded voucher program across central and eastern Kentucky. This program, administered under the name 'Bluegrass Harvest', is expected to reach 3000 voucher-incented shareholders by 2018. As this region currently has less than 1000 shareholders, Bluegrass Harvest presents numerous opportunities for producers to develop direct marketing strategies.
