Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP) proposes to continue Horses and Hope in collaboration with Kentucky’s First Lady Jane Beshear. This initiative aims to increase breast cancer awareness, provide education and promote opportunities for early detection. The focus will include medically underserved and uninsured workers at race tracks, horse farms and other horse industry venues. Women will be linked with screening resources such as mobile mammography and local health departments. KCP will continue to educate race fans and to engage survivor champions to promote screening through specially designated Horses and Hope events at thoroughbred race tracks.
New this year, KCP plans to take the First lady’s breast cancer screening message to rural Kentucky women through Horses and Hope educational programs and themed birthday cards. This expansion is also designed to reach women who are low income, medically underserved, and non-compliant with screening guidelines.
