Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The overarching goal of this research is to increase wheat profitability and
sustainability by developing and releasing superior SRW wheat varieties for Kentucky
growers. By building resistance to diseases such as head scab into the varieties, we are
enhancing sustainability of production practices by reducing reliance on fungicides. We
strive to identify high yielding, early maturing varieties with excellent test weight and
straw strength that will meet the goals of sustainability by filling food needs, enhancing
environmental sustainability by reducing soil erosion and enhancing economic
sustainability by increasing profitability of the 3-crops-in-2-years rotation.
