Abstract
The Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) seeks to improve the health and safety of
people in Kentucky through prevention, promotion and protection. To that end, DPH Office of
Health Equity is piloting the Building Prevention with Faith toolkit. It is critical that the toolkit
and accompanying resources incorporate principles of design that maximize accessibility and
usability for the broadest array of users as possible. Additionally, the COVID environment
requires additional considerations that are critical for successful training and prevention
programming. To address these issues, the Human Development Institute (HDI) will create an
additional section that can be added as a supplement to the toolkit. This addition will emphasize
universal design applications that can be used to enhance successful toolkit implementation and
provide resources relevant to underserved groups, including people with disabilities as we
continue to navigate the pandemic and post pandemic world. Emphasis will be placed on
accessibility with recommendations for alternate methods for sharing information.
