Grants and Contracts Details
Description
ARPA-E CONNECT funding is requested under Category 2 of section 1.B to enable student participants from the Kentucky Energy Club at the 2012 MIT Energy Conference, "Insight and Innovation in Uncertain Times", which will take place on March 16-17, 2012. Funds will be used to support five students from four Kentucky Energy Club (KEC) chapters to attend this national meeting; which will allow the participants to interact with peers, expand their knowledge of energy research and technologies, connect with leaders in the energy industry, and network with other leaders working in US energy innovation and policy.
The KEC is a relatively new (one year old) organization directed at students within Kentucky's higher education system. As such, the opportunity to support student leaders from the four chapters of the Energy Club to attend the national meeting will be instrumental in expanding the activities of these chapters, increase the students' knowledge, and engage and excite these student leaders. In turn, these students will return to their home institutions to lead upcoming chapter activities and expand outreach to several hundred additional students in the process.
