Campus Suicide Prevention Coordinator

Funds will be used for a College Suicide Prevention (SP) Coordinator for the state who will work with other colleges across the state to share the knowledge that UK has gained over the years in the Suicide Prevention field. This position will include a needs assessment of all colleges in the state to determine the following: 1. what their current SP activities include; 2. what resources they have available to provide SP; 3. what resources (training specifically) they need to provide SP on their campus; and 4. determine specific information about SP for LGBTQ and military/veteran populations on campus. The Coordinator will encourage schools to hold gatekeeper trainings with school leadership groups ((RA’s, Greek leaders, etc.) and will connect colleges and universities with local trainers. The Coordinator will provide TA for holding outreach events at campuses and for media outreach efforts at the college level.
