CEDIK Appalachian Health Fellowships

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky (CEDIK) at the University of Kentucky proposes to continue its existing New York Community Trust Appalachian Health Career Fellowship program to support a cohort of graduate fellowships. CEDIK staff will provide enhanced support to the Fellows in addition to creating a small cohort who can benefit from peer learning and sharing. Given the shortage of health care providers in the Appalachian region, along with the expected retirement of many physicians, and of course an aging population that demands more health care, the need to educate and then retain young health care professionals is a real priority. CEDIK will work with 4-year institutions to publicize the Fellowships. We foresee being able to award 7, 2-year fellowships at $10,000 annually.
