Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky (CEDIK) at the University of Kentucky proposes to a
dminister scholarships, with funding provided by the New York Community Trust, to Appalachian residents seeking education
in health or a health-related field. The shortage of health care providers in the Appalachian region, along with the expected
retirement of many physicians, and of course an aging population that demands more health care, the need to educate and then
retain young health care professionals is a real priority. CEDIK will work with 4-year institutions, junior colleges, and community
and technical schools to publicize the scholarships. We foresee being able to award 20 scholarships at $5,000 each over a 2 year
period.
