Grants and Contracts Details
Description
We propose to develop a monograph study that documents the history of Black Americans in and
around Mammoth Cave between 1860 and 1941. This activity will proceed for three years beginning in
July of 2023 and proceed for three years. It will require some travel to the Mammoth Cave area, archival
research within the state of Kentucky, possible oral history interviews, and a sub-agreement in order to
utilize the expertise of Le Datta Grimes of Clemson University.
