Description
OBJECTIVES: This research will explore the potential of utilizing a chip seal as a low-cost
method of pavement preservation in Kentucky. The detailed objectives are as fo llows:
I. Evaluate the state-of-practice for utili zation of chip seals as a maintenance treatment
through literature search and discussion with other state agencies.
2. Assist the Cabinet in selecting pilot proj ects for application of chip seals
3. Monitor the construction and performance of the pilot projects and potential cost savings
4. Develop guidelines for project selection and construction.
