Description
OBJECTIVES: This research will explore the potential of utilizing a chip seal as a low-cost
method of pavement preservation in Kentucky. The detailed objectives are as follows:
1. Evalnate the state-of-practice for utilization of chip seals as a maintenance treatment
tln'ough literature search and discussion with other state agencies.
2. Assist the Cabinet in selecting pilot projects for application of chip seals
3. Monitor the construction and perfol1nance of the pilot projects and potential cost savings
4. Develop guidelines for project selection and construction.
