Grants and Contracts Details
Description
This proposal has been prepared in response to a request from staff of the Kentucky
Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), Division of Environmental Analysis for a proposal and cost estimate
for conducting a Phase 2 National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility assessment of
archaeological site 15CH684 in Christian County, Kentucky. The NRHP assessment will be conducted
in a staged approach, with work continuing into the next stage when results warrant additional effort.
The archaeological site was identified in a recent Phase I archaeological survey of additional right-ofway
(ROW) along KY 911 near Oak Grove, Kentucky. The work that will be conducted is intended to
provide an NRHP eligibility evaluation of the portion of 15CH684 that will be affected by the proposed
road construction. The site extends outside the proposed new ROW, but those portions of the sites will
not be impacted by the proposed construction, nor will they be evaluated for NRHP eligibility.
Determination of the NRHP eligibility status of 15CH684 intended to help KYTC determine if
additional work is needed at the site, and the level of additional work (if any) that may be required to
mitigate the impact of proposed construction.
