Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The specific aim of this project is to examine the employee and organization benefits associated
with cultivating a work environment responsive to hourly employees' work and life needs. In
collaboration with a large scale national drug store company, CitiPharm (pseudonym), we propose to
conduct an in-depth investigation to study (1) the effects of flexible work practices on hourly workers
ability to manage their work and family responsibilities; (2) the effects of such policies on such company
outcomes as absenteeism, tardiness, retention of workers and productivity; and (3) the management and
supervisory practices and processes used to cultivate a work environment responsive to employees' work
and family responsibilities.
