Commonwealth Project Lead the Way National Affiliate University Proposal

This document proposes an outline for the University of Kentucky, College of Engineering to become the Commonwealth Project Lead the Way University Affiliate. The goals of the proposed project are straightforward: • To increase the enrollment of Kentucky students in engineering and technology post-secondary degree programs • To develop a Summer Training Institute (STI) • To provide STI Attendees pre-service assessment, preparation and advising • To train middle and high school teachers (both Kentucky and out-of-state) in the PLTW curriculum at the STI • To provide STI Attendees with professional development • To offer credit to pre-engineering students who successfully complete the PLTW curriculum, and • Implement PLTW certification standards and visits to high schools who participate in the Kentucky STI.
