Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This agreement is to continue provision of technical assistance, professional development and training for school district and OVR personnel participating in the CBWTP. The CBWTP is designed to provide a positive beginning in the world of work for special education students during their last two years of high school. It is for secondary school age students with significant disabilities who need support for exploring potential careers, pursuing challenging work experiences and obtaining and maintaining employment within their communities. The program offers LEAs an option for vocational services to provide employment outcomes to the target population that would not otherwise exist. As a result of transition emphasis in both IDEA and KY Senate Bill 1 (College and Career Readiness) there has been an increase in school district interest in this program. The program has expanded from approximately 27 districts participating in 1987, to the current 68.
