CORAL Study

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

ABSTRACT – CORAL This project is a collaborative research agreement among the University of Kentucky and Stanford University to measure concentrations of angiotensin I, angiotensin II, and aldosterone in serum of participants in the completed trial, Cardiovascular Outcomes with Renal Artery Lesions (CORAL). This is a secondary analysis of the CORAL trial funded by Stanford PI and the objective is to screen patients with atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis for markers of the RAAS system in correlation with blood pressure, major cardiovascular, and major kidney events. De-identified serum samples from the CORAL trial biorepository, located at the University of Toledo Health Science campus, will be shipped to the University of Kentucky, where quantification of the RAAS biomarkers will take place using previously published protocols. Dissemination of findings from the analysis will be co-authored amongst the three universities.
