Grants and Contracts Details
Description
This work builds on the current activities of the CDC “Learn the Signs. Act Early” Ambassador to Kentucky, Christine Hausman. The 2020 Act Early State Team COVID-19 Response Initiative funds will support a team of key stakeholders to help expand this work. This team will conduct a needs assessment to identify current (during COVID) barriers and opportunities for early identification of developmental delays and disabilities. The needs assessment will focus on the 4 key steps of early identification: (1) parent engaged developmental monitoring, (2) developmental and autism screening, (3) referral, and (4) receipt of early intervention services for children birth to 5, across early childhood systems. Based on the results, the team will develop, implement and evaluate a strategic plan to begin to address the identified barriers and realized opportunities to support families in their COVID-19 recovery. An Outreach Coordinator will assist in communications to stakeholders, community partners and families requesting resources. This person will help promote and distribute relevant developmental monitoring tools, materials, and program information to improve resiliency among families with young children during the COVID-19 response.
