Grants and Contracts Details
Description
I am one of the four PI’s of the U24 supported Resource Center for Stable Isotope-Resolved Metabolomics (RC-SIRM), for which I direct the Sample Preparation/Processing and Outreach/Education cores. I have been working with Dr. Biswal for last 2 years on several lung projects. My lab will play active role in the studies described in this proposal. I will be responsible for the overall direction and coordination of SIRM-based metabolic studies proposed in this project. I will design the in vitro and in vivo metabolic studies, supervise the necessary GCMS, NMR and FT-ICR MS analysis, assist in the interpretation of results in terms of metabolic network changes in vitro and in vivo. We pioneered the SIRM development and have extensive experience with using stable isotope tracer in metabolic studies. Since the in vitro and in vivo profiling of cancer cells/tumors will be carried out at my facility at the University of Kentucky, my effort is requested from year 1-4 for supervising the metabolomics studies.
