CRUI: A Multidisciplinary Test of Mutualistic Benefits Fungal Endophytes Provide Their Host Plants

The subaward will allow quantification of the accumulation of mRNA in experimental plants using real-time PCR. The procedure will be conducted on an ABI Prism 5700 in Dr. Schardl's department. Some of this work will be done in the Bultman laboratory, but the volume of samples will require that some samples be processed in Schardl's laboratory. During the summers of 2005-2007, two students from Hope College will travel to Schardl's laboratory to assist in the processing of samples. Hence, the subaward will also be used to train and supervise these students.
