To develop a research plan incollaboration with the industry, identifying opportunities for the inland river transportation system in the region. potential longer-term topics could include for example container on barge operations in the Ohio River valley. Such developent of the maritime highway could reduce roadway congestion and establish a modern sustainable intermodal transportation system.
