Description
Summer Sustainability Research Fellowship secured by undergraduate researcher Bailey Little to to conduct comprehensive research aimed at supporting and enhancing interpretive signage at The Arboretum, providing a more engaging experience for visitors. Our research has two specific aims:
1. to inventory existing signage at The Arboretum in order to establish priorities for updating and improving signage’s contributions to environmental education
2. to understand current visitors’ perspectives on The Arboretum and how their experiences compare to 2019 visitors in order to improve interpretation practices across The Arboretum’s educational, wayfinding, fundraising, and other communications

Layman's description
Creating an inventory including every sign around The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky. Being able to reliably locate every sign along with their content, size, visibility, and condition is a first step toward identifying the signs that fail to connect with visitors and changing them as needed to meet The Arboretum’s educational goals.
