Description

To improve access to high quality, evidence-based substance abuse screening, assessment and treatment for adolescents and their families across the Commonwealth by increasing provider capacity. Adolescent substance use is at epidemic proportions and if effective intervention is not provided it frequently advances into young adulthood and beyond. Adolescent substance use increases morbidity and mortality and derails normal development paths that are important for education achievement, developing talents, and maturing in relationships. This initiative is part of Kentucky's legal settlement with two (2) pharmaceutical companies through which recoverd dollars are being used to expand substance usetreatmnet servicves and supports across the Commonwealther. Through this iniative, UKRF will assist current and new providers in developing, redesigning, or enhancing current adolescent susbtance use treatment and recovery services and supports across the continuum of care, including screening, assessment, inpatient, outpatient, and high quality residential and hospital-based services.
