OBJECTIVES: I) Review current technologies ava ilable for machine grade control using GPS. 2)
Review other agencies guidclines for GPS survey specifications and coordination between highway
designers and construction personnel. 3) Conduct field trials using GPS machine control to evaluate
coordination acti vities necessary. 4) Evaluate the fea sibility of utilizing the Kentucky Continuously
Operation Reference System (CaRS) as based stations for GPS machine contro l.
