Developing Specialty Crop Resources to Aid Farmers Seeking to Diversify

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Kentucky’s farmers are seeking production and marketing information to help them determine which specialty crops might work best for their enterprises. They also need guidance on negotiating the process of determining which crops to try. With direct markets continuing to bring growth to produce markets in Kentucky, growers need to be up to date on crop varieties and production practices, as well as crop budgets. They also need to know which marketing channels are available to them and how they work. They would benefit from access to information about growers who have successfully diversified their farms to include specialty crops. This project will develop new resources and update existing resources available through the UK Center for Crop Diversification to help meet these needs.
