Grants and Contracts Details
Description
Soybean growers across the U.S. face several common yield limiting diseases that can result in
annual losses from $2.2 to $4.6 million. Decision making tools provide a method to target
fungicide applications, simultaneously improving fungicide efficacy and proactively delaying the
development of fungicide resistance. Research will be conducted to help develop and validate
soybean disease forecasting systems. Specifically, a foliar fungicide field trial on soybean will be
conducted, and spore traps will be deployed. Slides from the spore traps will be collected weekly
and sent to a designated laboratory for analysis. In addition, multi-state Extension publications
will be developed to help educate stakeholders about management of important soybean
diseases.
