Development of a High Resolution Detection System for Precision Measurement of the Neural Pion Lifetime at JLab

The University of Kentucky will be responsible for the pair production luminosity monitoring system::'"This will involve (1) defining the overall design of the device including the magnetic elements and detectors; (2) purchasing components for the detectors and constructing them; (3) designing the data acquisition electronics, purchasing their components, and their subsequent assembly, and (4) commissioning the device. The University of Kentucky will also oversee the design and construction of the helium bag and the vacuum box for this experiment. In addition, we will participate in the development of a fission based on-line beam intensity/profile monitor.
