Scope of Work statement Project Title: Development of Continuous Optical Monitors of Cerebral Autoregulation and Inflammation During Extracorporeal Life Support Collaborator- Ann M. Stowe, Ph.D. Start/End Dates: 09/01/2021-08/31/2026 PI Name: David R. Busch, Ph.D. Project Description (including objectives, tasks, and deliverables as applicable): Dr. Stowe (Collaborator, 0.96 calendar months) and a graduate student in her lab (3.0 calendar months) will be responsible for all experiments pertaining to the early cyoktine upregulation at the start of ECMO. This will expand on our earlier collaboration identifying an altered immune response in children that acquire brain injury while on ECMO. Expenses will cover the collection and storage of plasma samples, shipment of samples to the University of Kentucky, as well as all reagents related to in vitro indirect adaptive immune assays and protein analyses established in our prior publication (PMID: 30640221). Dr. Stowe will also assist in data analyses, publication of the work, and future grant writing.
