Development of Hands-On Training Materials for Private Applicator Training

2024 Kentucky PSEP Enhancement Grant Abstract There are currently 10,660 private pes cide applicators (farmers) that are trained and cer ?ed every 3 years through their local county extension o?ce. Pes cide applicators must be cer ?ed in order to purchase and use restricted use pes cides. For many people, this is the only me they come to their UK extension o?ce. The EPA approved training for pes cide applicators is a minimum of 3 hours every three years. The enhancement grant will to develop a booklet of hands on training ac vi es that can be used by county extension agents to improve engagement with applicators during these trainings. We expect to have 4 to 6 of these ac vi es included in the booklet with step by step instruc ons on how to conduct these ac vi es and necessary handouts and supply lists.
