Grants and Contracts Details
Description
Kentucky's current policies indicated that certain pipe installations would
require some type of protective coating be installed on the pipe to address a variety of conditions,
such as: corrosion, abrasion, and hydraulic resistance. Currently there are no documented
performance guidelines for these types of materials in Kentucky. Questions which are asked
dealing with the use of pipe coating and paving are: should land use determine the type of
coating, which materials are best, and is there an improvement in performance by utilizing these
materials. This research effort will address these concerns and develop appropriate guidelines for
their use. This will insure the most cost effective use of these materials while maintaining the
performance desired.
