Grants and Contracts Details

Description

OBJECTIVE: To develop algorithms for detection of individual diseases and defects on poultry carcasses. APPROACH: Develop real-time image acquisition and disease and defect detection software modules using LabView. Integrate the disease and defect detection modules with ISL pilot-scale poultry inspection system. Test processing speed and robustness of the algorithms at the ISL pilot-scale poultry processing line. STATEMENT OF MUTUAL INTEREST: Both parties are actively engaged in independent research on increasing our knowledge of how to devise inspection systems for enhancing food safety. The parties agree that meeting the objectives of this project will strengthen and enhance ongoing research within the scope of this agreement. Both parties are interested in research on developing imaging algorithms and software for automated, non-invasive detection of individual diseases in poultry. Both parties have engaged in the research area of instrumentation for animal disease detection.
